Beschrijving
‘De bibliotheek van Saint-Malo’ speelt zich af in het Franse kustplaatsje Saint-Malo tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Wanneer de nazi’s het stadje bezetten vernietigen zij alles wat onwenselijk wordt geacht, waaronder een heleboel boeken. Jocelyn Ferrec, een dappere bibliothecaresse, gebruikt haar positie om haar dorpsgenoten moed en hoop te geven en tegelijkertijd zo veel mogelijk boeken te redden van de brandstapel. Haar man Antoine zit ondertussen gevangen in een Duits kamp. Terwijl Jocelyn wanhopig wacht op een bericht van hem, schrijft ze brieven naar de beroemde auteur Emile Zola, in de hoop dat haar verhaal ooit een groot publiek zal bereiken.
