Beschrijving
Silas is in de leer bij de meestersmid Liege Lee in New York. Nog een paar maanden en dan mag hij zichzelf ook meestersmid noemen. Hij is vastbesloten daarna naar het westen te trekken. Maar Liege ontdekt de uitzonderlijke kwaliteiten van Silas en doet er alles aan om hem te houden. Wat wellicht kan helpen is dat Silas wel gecharmeerd is van de beide dochters van Liege.
